Welsh Youth Parliament meets and votes for the first time, 25/02/2019 [W]

The Welsh Youth Parliament met for the first time at the end of February and voted on the top three themes for their work for the next two years.

The members met in the Siambr of the Senedd, taking the seats usually occupied by the members of the National Assembly for Wales.

Each member gave an inaugural speech about something they care most about, from support for vulnerable young people, hate crime, to equality and plastic waste.

After the debates, 41 members voted for Emotional and Mental Health support.

The next step for the members will be to consult with their constituents and partner organisations and hold smaller meetings to discuss their priorities for the coming months.
