Cabinet Secretary for Education Congratulates GCSE, A-Level and Welsh Baccalaureate students in Wales

The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Kirsty Williams AM, has congratulated pupils receiving their GCSE, A-Level and Welsh Baccalaureate results this August.

The number of pupils getting A*-A grades has gone up from 17.9% last year to 18.5% this year. The number of pupils getting A* results at A-Level is the best since 2010, at 8.7%.

Speaking at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, on the day of the A-Level results, the Cabinet Secretary said:

“Today is the culmination of a lot of hard work from our students and I want to congratulate them, as well as our fantastic teachers and lecturers, on these results.

“We’re seeing a very positive and stable set of results, with some very encouraging signs of progress as we continue on our journey of education reform.”
