Draft Autism (Wales) Bill

Paul Davies AM has launched a consultation on a draft Autism (Wales) Bill.

In its current form the Bill would require the Welsh Government to publish an autism strategy and guidance on how it should be used.

The current Welsh Government has an Autism Spectrum Disorder Strategic Action Plan, but the new Bill would make sure that there would always be an autism strategy, including certain principles, even if the government changed.

This draft Bill is based on responses to a previous consultation on the general ideas behind an Autism Bill.

Introduced on 22 February 2018, the bill is a private member’s Bill following a ballot conducted by the Presiding Office of the National Assembly for Wales.

The consultation closes on 17 April 2018.
